There is something beautiful about a garden.
It grows slowly. It changes with the seasons. It requires tending, patience, and care. And sometimes, the most beautiful growth happens long before anyone else can see it. The King’s Garden was inspired by the life of David—a story of calling, courage, failure, repentance, worship, and a heart that continually returned to God.
Before David ever wore a crown, he was a shepherd.
Long before he stood before a nation as king, he spent his days in the fields tending his father’s sheep. It was there, in an ordinary and unseen place, that God was preparing him for something greater. When Samuel came to anoint the future king of Israel, David wasn't the obvious choice. Yet God reminded Samuel that while people look at outward appearances, the Lord looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7).
David's story reminds us that our unseen seasons are not wasted ones. A Shepherd Who Became a King. David would go on to face Goliath with extraordinary faith, become a warrior, endure years of uncertainty, and eventually become king of Israel. But what makes his story so meaningful isn't simply that a shepherd became a king.
It's that David's life was deeply human.
He experienced incredible victories, but he also made serious mistakes. He knew joy, grief, fear, temptation, friendship, betrayal, and loss. Scripture doesn't present David as a perfect king. Instead, we see someone who needed God's grace again and again. And when David fell, he knew where to return.
His words in Psalm 51 capture that beautifully:
“Create in me a clean heart, O God.”
That desire for restoration is an important part of David's legacy. His life reminds us that faith isn't about living a flawless story. It's about continuing to turn our hearts toward God. Why The King’s Garden? I wanted this candle to capture both sides of David's story—the beauty of where he began and the depth of who he became.
A shepherd in the fields.
A poet and worshiper.
A warrior.
A king.
And, ultimately, a man whose life pointed toward a King still to come.
The fragrance Midnight Bloom felt like the perfect expression of that story. It is deeply layered, opening with the richness of blueberry, unfolding into white jasmine and lavender, and settling into the warmth of cedarwood and white musk.

More Than a Crown
Perhaps one of the most important things David's story teaches us is that God saw David's heart before the world ever saw his crown. His significance wasn't found simply in becoming king. It was found in his relationship with God.
David worshiped in the fields before he worshiped from a throne. He trusted God before he defeated Goliath. He was being shaped long before his calling became visible to everyone else. The King’s Garden is a reminder to tend to the places within us that no one else sees—to remain faithful in quiet seasons, to seek God when we lose our way, and to remember that growth doesn't always happen where others can see it.

And before David was known as a king, God knew his heart.
